LIFTING BEAMS
Lifting beams, are devices used for handling loosely suspended loads that require handling (support) at multiple points. They consist of one or multiple support elements with gripping points.
PREFA Technology designs lifting beams for handling reinforced-concrete precast elements for substations, garages, sumps, trusses, load bearers, flat elements, and more (concrete moulds, etc.).
Lifting beams are classified as:
- standard lifting beams
- multipoint lifting beams
- turning lifting beams
- balancing lifting beams
Note: Using an incorrect type of lifting beam may result in irreversible damage being caused to the reinforced-concrete element (deformation of the surface of the element by the binding device, breaking of the handling shackles, etc.).
Standard lifting beams
The base design of lifting beams. They consist of a base steel girder and handling shackles. Standard lifting beams can be supplied with fixed or adjustable shackle spacing.
The lifting beam handled via the centre shackle. The centre shackle can be replaced by two or more handling shackles.
Multipoint lifting beams
Multipoint lifting beams are based on standard lifting beams. They consist of a main steel girder, which is complemented with two perpendicular crossbars (known as an H-beam). Each crossbeam has usually two handling shackles.
The lifting beam can either be fixed or adjustable. The adjustable version allows the user to change the spacing between the shackles in both the longitudinal and transverse directions of the lifting beam.
The lifting beam handled via the centre shackle. The centre shackle can be replaced by two or more handling shackles.
Turning lifting beams
Turning lifting beams are single or multipoint beams. They are equipped with a swivel mechanism that allows the lifting beam to be rotated around the vertical axis under a full load. The mechanism replaces the absence of a swivel hook or swivel crane trolley.
The lifting beam can be handled with a central shackle, which is…
